Immagine Sicilia. An educational workshop inspired by the work of Lisetta Carmi Castelbuono Civic Museum 23 September – 11 October 2025
As part of the project Lisetta Carmi’s Journey to Sicily, curated by Valentina Bruschi, the Castelbuono Civic Museum presents the educational workshop Image of Sicily, dedicated to the famous photographic reportage produced by the artist in 1977 on commission from the Dalmine company. The photographs, acquired by the Museum through the public call Photography Strategy 2024, promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture, serve as a tool for understanding and reflection on the Sicilian landscape, through a multifaceted and intergenerational perspective.
Aimed at children and young people aged between 6 and 18, the workshop – curated by Stefania Cordone, the Museum’s Head of Education – offers four sessions in which the Genoese photographer’s perspective intertwines with that of the younger generations, generating a fusion of languages and visions.
The activities involve a session observing Lisetta Carmi’s images, followed by a creative reworking through collage, graphic and painting techniques, combined with writing. The aim is to transform the photographic work into new narratives, the result of intersections between memory, geography and contemporary sensibilities.
The programme consists of three separate sessions organised by age group (6–10 years, 11–13 years, 14–18 years), followed by a fourth collective session dedicated to the exhibition and public presentation of the works.
