Education at the Civic Museum of Castelbuono represents a space for sharing: a physical and symbolic place where the museum meets citizens, schools, and the wider community through a rich programme of workshops and educational pathways, curated by Scientific Director Stefania Cordone.

Educational programmes that grow with schools

The relationship with schools of all levels lies at the heart of the museum’s educational mission. Over the years, the Department has built a strong connection with teachers and students, offering tools that complement formal education: experiences designed to expand learning methods and foster mental flexibility through art, history, and cultural heritage.

Heritage and the common good

In recent years, the Museum’s Education Department has focused its research on the themes of heritage and the common good, with the aim of encouraging a more conscious relationship between the public and their local area—understood as a repository of traditions, culture, art history, and the natural heritage of the Madonie region. Research and experimentation are central to every educational proposal, in line with the philosophy of the Civic Museum: a hub for contemporary thought and a forward-looking space for artistic and social processes.

A museum as a home for shared thinking

In collaboration with the Participatory Projects Department, directed by Maria Rosa Sossai, the Education Department develops creative initiatives that foster cooperation and social engagement around art, promoting a vision of the museum as an open, living, and shared space.

The museum provides schools with digital resources to help prepare for their visit directly in the classroom:
